Convent Van Chièvres, room Willem Van Croy
Groot Begijhof Leuven, Belgium
At the closure of the interdisciplinary research project titled
'The role of biomechanical parameters in the success or
failure of cementless orthopaedic implants',
funded by the research council of K.U.Leuven, innovative, multidisciplinary
research findings are presented.
Reported research topics include:
- Clinical and radiographic evaluation of THR performance
- Follow-up of implant performance using BMD and RSA
- Per-operative stability measures for THR
- Use of individualized musculoskeletal modelling to quantify
hip implant loading
- Can pre-operative parameters predict post-operative THR fixation
and ingrowth?
These are confronted with the state of the art
on performance of Total Hip Replacement (THR) presented by a faculty
of keynote lecturers.
Commented poster sessions are organized on relevant topics to
promote a unique, multi-disciplinary interaction.
